Inaugurated in 2019, MSC Grandiosa is the first ship in the Meraviglia Plus class of MSC Cruises. Built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, this cruise ship can accommodate up to 6,334 passengers and 1,704 crew members.
MSC Grandiosa spans 19 decks, with 15 accessible to passengers. Among its notable features is a 364 ft long indoor promenade with a 305 ft LED ceiling, one of the largest at sea.
The ship offers a variety of entertainment options, such as the Wild Forest themed water park, a sports complex, a karaoke room, and an XD cinema. MSC Grandiosa boasts 21 bars and lounges and 10 restaurants, including the HOLA! Tapas Bar by Spanish chef Ramón Freixa, as well as a chocolate shop and creperie by pastry chef Jean-Philippe Maury.
MSC Grandiosa is equipped with advanced technologies to reduce atmospheric emissions. The ship uses a hybrid exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS), known as a scrubber, which removes up to 97% of sulfur oxides (SOx). Additionally, it has a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system that reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 80%. MSC Grandiosa can also connect to shore power, significantly reducing emissions while in port.
MSC Grandiosa is designed to maximize energy efficiency with advanced propulsion systems and an optimized hull. It uses a patented heat recovery system that recycles heat from diesel generators to heat sanitary water and produce fresh water, thereby reducing CO2 emissions. MSC Cruises applies rigorous waste management practices on board its fleet to minimize environmental impact. This includes waste sorting and recycling programs for materials like plastic, glass, paper, and metal, significantly reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills.
