Nicko Cruises offers a cruise experience centered on authenticity, friendliness, and rich itineraries, with extensive expertise in river cruising and a presence in ocean cruising. The German company stands out for its intimate-sized ships, providing a more personal and relaxed experience, whether on European rivers or at sea aboard the Vasco da Gama. On river cruises, nicko cruises offers an immersive experience at the heart of destinations, with itineraries on the Danube, the Rhine, the Douro, or the Mekong, punctuated by cultural stops such as Vienna (imperial heritage), Budapest (river views), or Porto (wine valleys). The ships prioritize a friendly atmosphere, with attentive service and dining inspired by local cuisines. At sea, the Vasco da Gama offers an experience distinct from large cruise ships, featuring a more classic and relaxed ambiance, multiple restaurants, pleasant outdoor spaces, and varied itineraries, particularly in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, or to Africa. The philosophy of Nicko Cruises is based on a balanced pace of travel, allowing time to enjoy the ports of call while savoring the cruise experience. An accessible and authentic cruise, ideal for travelers seeking cultural discoveries, comfort, and an intimate atmosphere. Find all the most popular tips here

In conclusion, Nicko Cruises is ideal for couples and mature travelers seeking a relaxing and cultural vacation. It appeals to those who prioritize substance (the destination) over style (the spectacle). If you enjoy traveling in an organized, calm, and comfortable setting with efficient service, this is an excellent choice.
This is the main target audience. Nicko Cruises caters to travelers who want to spend time ashore. With often longer port stops and relaxed schedules, it appeals to those who wish to immerse themselves in the local culture, stroll through cities, and enjoy the scenery without constantly checking their watches.
The atmosphere on board is calm and refined, without being stuffy. The company primarily attracts couples aged 50 and older who are looking for rest, fine dining, and attentive service. It’s an ideal setting for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of resort hotels and noisy entertainment.
Nicko Cruises caters to those who dislike crowds. Whether on its riverboats or its ocean-going vessel, passenger numbers remain limited (often fewer than 1,000 for ocean cruises, fewer than 200 for river cruises). It is perfectly suited for guests who want to avoid lines at the buffet or during boarding and who appreciate personalized service.
The itineraries are often rich in cultural experiences (the Danube, the Rhine, as well as around-the-world cruises). The company caters to curious travelers who choose their trip based on the cities visited and the onboard lectures offered, rather than for water slides or casinos.

Positioning and key figures
Nicko Cruises has a fleet of 19 cruise ships divided into 3 categories according to ship size and style.
- The Nicko Boutique category brings together small, luxurious ships with personalized interiors. The MS Heidelberg on the Danube, the MS Casanova on the Rhine, the MS Frederic Chopin and MS Katharina Von Bora on the Elbe and the MS Douro Prince on the Douro are all in this category.
- The Nicko Modern category comprises large cruise ships with 150 to 200 beds. These ships feature luminous decors and elegant, state-of-the-art furnishings. Ships in this category include MS President VIII on the Yangtze, MS Steigenberger MI and MS Steigenberger Omar El Khayam on the Nile, MS Bolero and MS Viktoria on the Danube, MS Rhein Melodie and MS Rhein Symphonie on the Rhine, and MS Seine Comtesse on the Seine.
- The Nicko Classic category brings together boats of different sizes, with a classic, elegant style. This category includes the MS Mekong Prestige and MS Thurgau Exotic II on the Mekong, the MS Douro Cruiser on the Douro, the MS Bellissima on the Danube, the MS River Art on the Rhine, the MS Florentina on the Vltava and the MS Tschitscherin on the Volga.
These ships all offer 4 to 5 star comfort. The ships in the fleet generally have 3 decks. The upper deck, or sun deck, is an open-air area where passengers can enjoy panoramic views of the regions they visit. The middle deck houses relaxation, entertainment and dining areas. The lower deck includes passenger cabins with direct access to the ship's reception.
