Welcome to the land of the Gauchos

On the southern tip of Latin America, bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean, lies Argentina, a country with a surface area of over 2,791,810 km that continues to attract travelers in search of a change of scenery and authenticity. The first images that spring to mind are of dancers strolling the dance floor to the tune of the tango, and proud gauchos riding through the Pampas. But to reduce Argentina to these simple clichés is a mistake. This land once conquered by the Spanish boasts a thousand and one natural wonders that you'll have the chance to discover during your stay. From the desert regions to Iguazu Falls, the Andes mountain range and the wild beauty of Patagonia, Argentina's natural prowess often leaves city dwellers speechless. Argentina is also fascinating for its unique atmosphere, reminiscent of the Old Continent. The layout of the neighborhoods, the old colonial buildings that adorn the streets of the cities and the ultra-trendy neighborhoods of the metropolises distill a scent of Europe that is strangely familiar to vacationers.

What to see in Argentina?

It may take several trips to discover all the sights Argentina has to offer, but each trip reveals a little more of this American destination's secrets. If you love communion with nature, set off to discover the Perito Moreno glacier, one of the most accessible glaciers in the world. Thanks to steel footbridges, you'll have a front-row seat to the deafening yet impressive spectacle of falling icebergs. The Iguazu Falls, located deep in the forest on the border between Argentina and Brazil, offer another impressive spectacle: the crashing waterfalls tumbling down a basalt cliff, adorned as they go with the colors of the rainbow. Beyond the falls lie lush parks, perfect for romantic getaways amidst exceptional flora and fauna. Hiking and trekking enthusiasts will naturally take to Fitz Roy, where wild landscapes set against a backdrop of jagged peaks await them for unforgettable climbs and hikes. If you're looking for a romantic itinerary, take the Route des Sept Lacs through lush forests, waterfalls and crystal-clear lakes. The trip can be made by car, bus or bicycle.

A trip to Argentina inevitably includes Buenos Aires, the most European of American cities. The Cementerio de la Recoleta is the capital's main tourist attraction. The crypts, carved from marble or granite and adorned with stained glass windows, statues of angels and religious icons, are well worth a visit. As you stroll between the aisles, you'll sometimes come across wildcats stealthily crossing the tombs. With its cobbled streets, colonial architecture and traditional atmosphere reminiscent of the mid-19th century, the San Telmo district is also well worth a visit, especially on Sundays when a feria, a sort of flea market, takes place, displaying a plethora of antiques and trinkets. But what would a trip to Argentina be without a visit to the land of the Gauchos, one of the symbols of Argentina? Discover these nomadic cowboys, who are both horse trainers and cattle herders in San Antonio de Areco. Before leaving Argentina, take the road to Mendoza to taste some of Argentina's finest vintages.

The best season to discover Argentina

Because of its vast territory, Argentina has a wide range of climates. The northeast of the country has a subtropical climate, while the center is wetter and colder. In the south, the climate is more subarctic. A trip to Argentina is therefore possible all year round, depending on where you wish to visit. In the Andes, it snows in July and August, so you can go skiing while others bask in the sun. If you want to explore Patagonia, the best time to plan your trip is between November and March. Temperatures will be milder and the landscape will be in full bloom.
